Food and Nutrition Choices

info

Quick Wins

  1. Reduce red meat and dairy. Cows contribute significantly to methane emissions, so the more cow products you eat, the more methane is being emitted for your food. Plus, cows require an incredible amount of water over the course of their lifetimes. Even replacing a meal a week with poultry, fish, eggs, or beans will help.
  2. Meatless Mondays… or more! Raising animals for food emits more carbon than the same amount of protein grown as plants such as lentils and beans. Every meal that omits animal products can help. Branch out into bean burritos, spaghetti with lentil bolognese, falafel or hummus, edamame stir fry, frittatas or quiche- there’s something for every palate.

Big Impacts

  1. Plan meals and shop more frequently to reduce food waste.
  2. Compost your kitchen waste so that it doesn’t become methane in the landfill. Both Common Good Compost and Compost Queen will pick up your scraps at your curb weekly.
